Fall 2020 Athletics Update

FALL 2020 ATHLETICS UPDATE

Due to the ongoing uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic and putting safety first, Bristol Community College Athletics is suspending the Fall 2020 athletics seasons of Men's and Women's Soccer, Men's and Women's Basketball and Cross Country. While athletes will not be competing, the college's athletics program and specialized services for student-athletes will continue to academically and professionally support our players throughout their Bristol experience.

Similar to the trends that we are seeing across the country, many factors related to the pandemic went into this decision including the recent decision from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) suspending Fall 2020 sports to Spring 2021 and our concern for the overall safety of Bristol's student-athletes, coaches and staff. Bristol, in conjunction with recent NJCAA direction, will continue to assess the Spring 2021 athletic seasons of Men's and Women's Soccer and Men's and Women's Basketball.

The college's athletics program is integral to the academic and personal success of Bristol's student-athletes, whose dedication and responsibility on the playing field and in the classroom inspires Bristol's vibrant college community. Bristol will continue its comprehensive support system for student-athletes, including student support services and academic advising from Bristol's dedicated athletics advisor, who will continue to monitor coursework and academic completion. In addition, Bristol's athletics coaches will continue to operate their programs and frequently check in with student-athletes, virtually, by Zoom meetings.

Bristol will ensure that its championship-winning, tournament-reaching athletics program continues and looks forward to safely resuming competition for the Bayhawks in the future when the pandemic is better controlled.
