Athletics Hosts Panel Discussion on 2-4 Student-Athlete Transfer Elibility

Fall River, MA -- As part of the department's ongoing Student-Athlete Planning Series, Athletics and Recreation hosted a panel discussion on Wednesday October 28, 2020 covering student-athlete transfer eligibility.  The panel included Beth Wandyes, Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Senior Women's Administrator at Bryant University (NCAA DI), Nicole Ham, Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance at Southern New Hampshire University, (NCAA DII), and Jim Mullins, Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance at UMass Dartmouth (DIII).

Student-Athletes and coaches in attendance were able to gain an understanding of the academic path required for community college student-athlete's transferring to each of the different NCAA levels.  While there are many differences among the three NCAA levels, the three panelist found common ground on the importance of students understanding their options early by speaking with their coaches and reaching out to NCAA compliance officers.

The COVID-19 pandemic has influenced decision making within compliance at all levels and communication is taking place among all intercollegiate athletic associations with the goal of making decisions that will put our student-athletes in the best position.
