2015 Men's and Women's Soccer Season Previews

The men's and women's soccer teams at Bristol Community College are ready to embark on a brand new season in 2015, and are looking forward to showcasing their new teams and new brand on the field this year. The men's team is extremely excited about the start of the 2015 fall soccer season. With a roster of 27 players the Bayhawks are primed to have an experienced and talented team on the field. All of the home games will be played on synthetic turf at either Britland Park in Fall River (on weekdays) and at Durfee High School in Fall River (on weekends). Head Coach Joe Gill has hired hired a top notch assistant head coach in Peter Nunes, who's well known in the soccer community. "Our team goals are to win the conference and regional championships and go to the NJCAA National Tournament" says Gill.  "We have 6 returning players from last years regional finalist team, Co - Captains Matt Vieira and Andrew Watters, defenders Alex Pavao and Steve Farias, and midfielders Mike DeLuca and Matt Lacroix. We've added a slew of talented and skilled freshmen from the greater New Bedford, Fall River and Brockton areas as well to round out the team" said coach Gill.  The biggest addition this year is the return of 3 former players who played on the Bayhawks  team two seasons ago, Goalkeeper Josh Cardoso and Midfielders Yuri Maipira and Andre Pereira. This could be a very well be a breakout season for the men's program, although its still early several players have been very impressive in the pre-season. Brocktons John DePina ,Baudelaire Joseph, midfielders Jonathan Soares,Brice Marshall,the Ferreira brothers Jared and Tim, as well as former Durfee stars Jonathan Martel, Hugo Sousa, and Yzeglad Escalazy.  Men's soccer opens their season at home on Monday September 7th when they host Holyoke Community College.

The women's soccer team is very confident that they will improve upon last years season and make a push for post season play this year. Coach Dave Berube returns for another season to lead the Lady Bayhawks this year, and is assisted by coach Kim Bernier. The women's team is looking for leadership and production from returning members, such as Kelsey Bettencourt, and Paulina Vicente. The women's team opens up their season Thursday September 10th when they host Massasoit Community College.
