Bayhawks Announce the Addition of Cross Country in the Fall of 2017

Bristol Community College Athletics will add  two sports to its offering's in the fall of 2017. Both men's and women's cross country will be added as National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) varsity sports next fall.  The Bayhawks will now be represented in seven varsity sports.

"This is very exciting news for the athletic department," said Bristol Community College's Director of Athletics, Derek Viveiros.  He added, "I have been fortunate enough to see some additions to our sport offering's over the last few years. I give a lot of credit to our coaching staff, as well as our current and former student-athletes for our growth.  Their great efforts have given us a foundation to build upon.  I would also like to thank Dr. Sbrega for his continuous leadership and support in seeing the value of athletics here at Bristol."

Sports added in recent years at the college are tennis, golf, which began in the spring of 2016 and sent two golfers to the NJCAA National Tournament that same season, and men's and women's cross country next fall. Varsity athletics was reinstated at the college in 2008 with men's and women's soccer and men's and women's basketball.

Viveiros plans to announce the head coach for cross country later this week.
