Dr. Alyssa Frezza joins the Department of Athletics and Recreation as the Academic Coordinator in May 2019. Alyssa will be responsible for providing the overall academic and student-development initiatives for student-athletes.

Since Dr. Frezza's arrival the department has expanded its student-athlete development program to include a closely monitored advising program, electronic progress reporting system, and the Student-Athlete Planning Series, consisting of life skills workshops.  These efforts have led to consistently retaining student-athletes at a rate of 90% or higher, 44% of student-athletes earning a 3.0 grade point average or better, and 75+ student-athlete's named to the Dean's List.

Alyssa earned her Ed.D. from Johnson & Wales University where she completed her dissertation on Academic Services for College Athletics at Division II and III Institutions. Prior to accepting this position, Alyssa served as the Academic Coordinator on the New Bedford campus and as an Academic Advisor on the Fall River campus.  During this time, she has served on numerous committees and implemented a number of student-focused initiatives.  Alyssa brings experience and a proven track record of success in the advising area, which will be invaluable to student-athlete success.
