Women's Basketball Opens Season with Win

Lady Cougars Victorious on the Road

(Taunton, MA) - Women's basketball hit the court to open their season on Thursday evening, traveling to square off against regional opponent Bristol CC. The Lady Cougars were sharp from the opening tipoff, earning a decisive 76-29 victory.

Five different players registered double digits in points for Holyoke. Mayouri Yath (Amherst, MA / Amherst Regional HS) led the way scoring 17 while Emilia Ramos (Springfield, MA / East Longmeadow HS) tallied 15. Shauna Charles (Springfield, MA / Springfield International Charter HS) led the Cougars in rebounds with ten and scored 13 points, earning a double-double. Asha Zayas (Holyoke, MA / Holyoke HS) also earned a double-double, leading the team with 11 assists to go along with 11 points.

The Lady Cougars are 1-0 in the region and overall after opening the campaign with the win. They will be away for a few games before playing their home opener on Tuesday, December 13th at 6pm against Quinsigamond CC. Let's go Cougars!
