Men's Basketball Suffers First Loss of the Season to Bunker Hill

Charlestown, MA -- Men's Basketball suffers its first loss of the 2018-19 season at Bunker Hill Community College on Tuesday night, 79-74.  This week's national poll was released on Tuesday prior to the start of the games, in which Bristol was ranked #7 and Bunker Hill ranked #5.   

Bunker Hill Community College jumped out to an early 10-0 lead. Then the Bayhawks followed a slow start with a 36-25 run to end the first half giving Bristol a 36-35 lead at halftime.

The second half was filled with back and forth excitement. Bristol after a Joshua Winbush (Lake Charles, LA) layup with 3:50 to go on the clock was up 74-68. The Bulldogs of Bunker Hill then finished with an 11-0 run to end the game and took the lead for good with a three point shot with 1:04 remaining. The Bayhawks struggled to execute late taking long jumpers that did not fall.

Bunker Hill nearly out rebounded Bristol 2 to 1. Bunker had 58 rebounds to Bristol's 31.

Leading the way for Bristol was sophomore Jose Mercado (Taunton, MA) who had 20 (7-10 FGs) and 8 rebounds. Sophomore Marcus McCarthy (East Providence, RI) had a solid game with 15 points 6 assists and 4 rebounds. 

Men's Basketball returns to action Thursday night when they host the Community College of Rhode Island at Bishop Connolly High School, 8:00 PM.
