Bayhawks Advance To Region XXI Finals After Beating Springfield 1-0 In Semi-Finals

The Bristol Community College men's soccer team won a thriller against Springfield Tech Saturday by a score of 1-0 to advance to the Region XXI finals for the 2nd time in 3 years.

The Bayhawks, who had lost to Springfield twice on the season, scored the lone goal in the 42nd minute of play when Cody DaCruz came through with a beautiful shot that found the back of the net, proving to be the game winner. Roberto Dos Santos assisted on the play and also provided offensive pressure on the day for the Bayhawks. Standout Edmilson Andrade had a gutty performance, overcoming an early ankle injury to provide an offensive presence for the Bayhawks.

The defense of the Bayhawks came up big on the day as well, with Simeon Bailey setting the tone for the Bayhawks. Goalkeeper Dimitry Celestin, now the staring keeper came up with multiple huge saves to secure the shutout and the win for the Bayhawks.

The men next play Bunker Hill to decide the Region XXI Championship on Sunday at 7pm at Durfee High School.
