Bayhawks Win Thriller With 8 Seconds Left In Championship Game To Advance To The Nationals

The Bristol Community College men's soccer team capped off a great the most successful season in school history with a thrilling 4-3 victory over the number 1 seeded Bulldogs of Bunker Hill yesterday at Durfee High School. 

The Bayhawks fell behind early after a Bunker Hill goal in the 10th minute of play. The Bayhawks responded 7 minutes later on a header from Simeon Bailey off of an Edmilson Andrade corner kick. The Bayhawks struck again in the 38th minute when Edmilson Andrade scored to give the Bayhawks the lead going into halftime. Roberto Dos Santos scored 10 minutes into the second half to give the Bayhawks a cushion of 2 goals and a comfortable lead. Bunker Hill however would not be denied, and pushed the offensive pace for most of the second half scoring two goals within 3 minutes to tie the game at 3. Drama struck with 8 seconds to play as  Felipe Silva was fouled inside the box resulting in a pentalty kick. Silva's powerful kick found the back of the net sealing the game and Region XXI Championship for the Bayhawks.

Defensively, the Bayhawks were once again led by Simeon Bailey and goalkeeper Dimitry Celestin, who made several huge saves to help guide the Bayhawks to the first National Tournament birth in school history.

The Bayhawks will travel to Herkimer, NY to play in the National Tournament from November 10th-13th.
