Men's Soccer Defeat Quincy College, 3-1

The Bayhawks men's soccer program improved to 1-1 on the young season with a 3-1 win over new region opponent, Quincy College.  Quincy College enters its first season competing in men's soccer in the NJCAA and Region XXI and fell to 0-2 on the season, despite playing a very competitive game on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bayhawks held a one goal lead heading into the final minute of play when sophomore forward, Roberto Dos Santos broke free and sealed a victory with a goal from fifteen yards out, giving him his second goal of the season.

Freshman, Nathan Gil scored his first goal of his college career in the twenty-seventh minute of the first half putting the Bayhawks up 1-0.  Forty seconds later, Freshman, Leandro Oliveira scored his first collegiate goal breaking free from two defenders and slipping one past the Quincy goalkeeper giving Bristol a 2-0 lead.  It was not until the fifty-eighth minute that Quincy College scored their first goal of the game, which led to a few strong opportunities for the Granite to tie the game at two.  Fortunately, the Bayhawks received stellar defense and goalkeeping that allowed them to hold the lead.  Freshman, Gerges Anwar played the first half in goal and had five saves and Freshman, Noah Ramalho played keeper in the second half and had four saves and handled the second half pressure like veteran goalkeeper.

The Bayhawks are back in action next Tuesday September 19 at Quincy College at 7:00 PM.
