Bayhawks Women's Basketball Season Opener Ends in Loss

Tonight was about starting to figure out who we are, at the most basic level.  The bus ride to the game was the first time all of our players were in the same place at the same time.  Yesterday's practice had six players at it, which was a record for the season.  Three weeks ago we didn't think we were going to have a season, so to be able to dress a full team tonight and play and compete in a game was a win, in and of itself.  We have a long way to go and tonight was truly the very first step in getting there, but it's a step in the right direction.

I thought we had really good stretches in this game that showed a lot of potential.  We went down by double digits a couple of times and fought back to single digits each time.  The team that walked onto the floor was terrified, didn't know each other, didn't know what to expect and let the game happen to them.  The team that walked off the floor had begun to gel, had begun to work together, had lost at least some of that fear, and is a team that fought back from 17 down to lose by seven.
