Strong 2nd Half Pushes Bayhawks past Buccaneers

Newton, MA -- Men's Basketball improves to 3-0 in Region XXI and 5-0 overall following a win on the Road Thursday night over Mass Bay Community College, 80-75. 

On Thursday evening the Bayhawks stepped on the court at Mount Ida College to take on Region XXI opponent, the Bucaneers of Mass Bay. Mass Bay entered the game 3-1 (Region XX) an 3-4 (overall). Both teams were evenly matched for most of the game with Mass Bay heading into halftime with 34-31 lead over the Bayhawks. In the second half Dion Hazard Jr took control of the Bayhawks offense scoring 21 of his game high 30 points including 11 -14 from the free throw line.

Free throws were the noticable game changer as Bristol went to the free throw line 35 times and scored 23 of their 80 points by way of free throws compared to Mass Bay's 15 free throw attempts.

Xavier Mendez added an impressive 21 points for the Bayhawks.

Next up for Bristol is another game on the road this Saturday afternoon at Springfield Technical Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
