On Wednesday February 26th, the 4th seeded Bristol Bayhawks men's basketball team hosted 5th seed Roxbury Community College in the Region XXI Tournament Quarterfinals game. After being down as many as twelve in the first half, Bristol led 38-36 at halftime before winning by a final score of 76-65. The Bayhawks will move onto the Semifinal game on Saturday March 1st at the CCRI Warwick campus.
Sophomore Tyrone Countrymon (Dorchester MA) led the Bayhawks with 20 points while fellow sophomore Darien Gibson (New Bedford MA) finished with 16 points. Freshman, Christ Lebrun (Haiti) continued his solid play with 12 points and 14 rebounds in the playoff victory.
Head Coach Brian Fernandes stated, "I'm proud of this team for climbing back as they did all season long and excited for the Sophomores as they get to continue their Bristol playing careers".
