Bayhawks Fall Short to Defending Region XXI Champions

Fall River, MA -- The Bristol Bayhawks Women's Basketball team put up a hard fought battle with visiting UConn Avery Point on Thursday night at Lafrance Gymnasium, losing to the defending Region XXI Champions, 103-90.

The Bayhawks were in striking range for most of the night including making it a four point game at halftime and late in the third quarter.  The Bayhawks offense was led by a steady attack from Sophomore guard Katera James.  Katera, knocked down eight three point baskets in the first half to help keep the Bayhawks close.

Ultimately, the Pointers from UConn Avery Point were able to extend their lead in the fourth quarter and secure the victory.

Katea James led all scorers with 46 points, Freshman, Abbie Hurley scored 14 points, freshman guard Atiya Rivera added 13 points for the Bayhawks.

Next up for Bristol is a road game at Hampshire College on Saturday at 1:00 PM. The last time these two teams matched up, Bristol secured an impressive 100-26 win.
